When to Renew
In Missouri, standard driver’s licenses are valid for either three or six years, depending on your age at the time of issuance. You can renew your license:
- Up to 6 months before expiration
- No later than the expiration date (driving with an expired license is illegal)
Your renewal notice may come by mail, but it's your responsibility to keep track of the expiration date.
Renewal Options
Missouri offers two primary ways to renew a driver’s license:
1. In-Person Renewal
Required if:
- You're renewing a REAL ID-compliant license for the first time
- Your license is expired more than six months
- You’ve changed your name or address
- You need to update your photo or other identifying information
